On Sunday October 14 2012 36 cyclists left from the Centenary Lakes Park in Brisbane’s north to complete a 100km loop to benefit those living with muscular dystrophy.
The riders were supported on the day by motorcyclists and escort vehicles, volunteers from Stream, who manned the pitstops, volunteers from St John’s Ambulance Service (who thankfully had a quiet day) and family and friends who joined the party at the finishing point where everyone enjoyed some coffee, a sausage sizzle (generously donated by Morayfield Lions Club) and some joined in the fun and got their faces painted!
The Ride4MD 2012 was sponsored by Stream, their monetary donation enabled 100% of funds raised by the cyclists to go directly to services for clients; Carman’s Kitchens provided delicious muesli rounds to keep the cyclists peddling; Wolves Bike Den drove with the cyclists and offered mechanical and technical support; and Stateside Distributors supplied the cycling jerseys to MD Queensland at a discounted rate.
The Ride4MD 2012 was a great success; helping to provide over $10,000 to the MD Queensland Client Services budget and growing the family of MD Queensland supporters.
