Extended Care

Our Extended Care program recognises that life doesn’t always go to plan.

Unexpected issues can arise where extra help is needed. You may need an extended care solution when:

  • You experience a progression in your condition
  • A family member or carer you rely upon suddenly falls ill or is unable to provide a usual amount of support
  • Your equipment breaks down
  • You have an unplanned or unwelcome change in housing arrangements

During these times, Muscular Dystrophy Queensland may be able to draw upon our charitable resources and community networks to help you to find a solution.

Our muscular dystrophy extended care program attempts to resolve immediate issues and where possible, link you in with community services designed to meet the need you have begun to experience. Commonly those community services include the NDIS, housing services, Centrelink and the taxi subsidy scheme. We can advocate for you and your family to receive the support you require.

Unfortunately this is not a crisis service and we can not respond to your needs outside normal business hours. We can however, refer you to a crisis support service and stay connected with you, helping you to find a long-term solution.
