Our Extended Care program recognises that life doesn’t always go to plan.

It provides flexible, responsive support for individuals and families living with neuromuscular conditions, helping to manage unexpected changes, additional care needs or challenges in daily life.

Our team works closely with you to tailor services that maintain wellbeing, independence and quality of life, providing peace of mind when it’s needed most.

About our Extended Care Program

Unexpected challenges can arise where extra support is needed. You may require an extended care solution if:

  • You experience a progression in your condition
  • A family member or carer you rely on is suddenly unable to provide their usual support
  • Your equipment breaks down
  • You face an unplanned or unwelcome change in housing arrangements

During these times, Muscular Dystrophy Queensland can draw on our charitable resources and community networks to help you find a solution.

Our Extended Care program aims to resolve immediate issues and, where possible, connect you with community services that meet your emerging needs. These services commonly include the NDIS, housing services, Centrelink and the taxi subsidy scheme. We can also advocate on behalf of you and your family to ensure you receive the support you require.

Please note that this is not a crisis service and we are unable to respond outside normal business hours. We can, however, refer you to appropriate crisis support services and remain connected to help you find a long-term solution.
