Accessing and understanding the National Disability Insurance Scheme can be overwhelming and confusing. Our friendly, knowledgeable and experienced staff at Muscular Dystrophy Queensland can assist you in every step of your NDIS journey.

Muscular Dystrophy Queensland has been providing services under the NDIS since its introduction to Queensland in July 2016 so we understand the NDIS system. We also understand the difficulties of living with muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular conditions.

What is the NDIS?

The NDIS is a nationally funded scheme that provides individual funding packages for people with a disability to access lifelong supports to help people achieve their goals.

Who is eligible for the NDIS?

To be eligible for NDIS disability supports, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • Be under 65 years of age
  • Be an Australian citizen or resident or permanent visa holder; and
  • Have a permanent (lifelong) disability that substantially reduces your ability from doing everyday things by yourself

To find out more about eligibility visit this link: https://www.ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis/am-i-eligible

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is responsible for accessing eligibility to become a participant in the NDIS. You can also call the NDIA on 1800 800 110 to discuss eligibility criteria.

We’ve supported many people living with progressive muscle wasting conditions to complete their NDIS application and successfully access their first NDIS Plan. Often a great first step is to call our Infoline and discuss your own situation. Call us on 1800 676 364 .

We can help you navigate the NDIS

Through our NDIS Access and Assistance program we can provide advice and assistance in completing your access request form, and work with you to give you the best chance of being accepted into the NDIS.

We can work with you to complete pre-planning so you are prepared for your first NDIS meeting. This will allow you to clarify your goals and develop an understanding of the supports that are available under the NDIS.

Our Client Services Team have been through the process many times and will make sure that all the information required is covered in the planning meeting, to ensure the best outcome in your NDIS plan.
